Bex Aka Peaches

I started my journey with pottery back in high school, but hadn’t touched it in over 20 years. I loved working with clay, but was enamoured with the wheel… from like a stalking POV… I loved watching people make, I loved collecting pieces but I never thought I’d be good enough to learn that skill. I only got the courage at 40 to try the wheel, and I immediately fell in love. 

I was not a natural, it took a lot of patience, frustration and determination. I say ‘determination’  but I think I mean stubbornness. A stubbornness, to want to make the pieces I wanted to. Like a game you keep playing, hoping you’ll master it. 

I’m still learning after 5 years, but last year, I put my full time focus into the wheel. Something clicked and I started to make the things I envisioned. I’m still honing in my skills, I’ve succumb to that fact, I’ll never learn it all! There’s so many avenues in clay, the wheel is an art form that I’m proud and grateful to practice. 

I now have my own home studio, being able to make, create, fire all from home. Is a dream come true.

I love being able to make pieces that people feel connected too. Items that are used everyday like mugs, That gives you this feel good vibes on the daily. If I can provide that in a piece, and it’s translates to the beholder…. That’s art, functional, feel good art.
